Basics

If V1 and V2 are inputs into a differential pair, with a tail current of Ib then the current in branch 1 is:

I_1 = I_b          \frac{            exp{ \frac{\kappa V_1}{U_T} }          }{            exp{ \frac{\kappa V_1}{U_T} } + exp{ \frac{\kappa V_2}{U_T} }          } = I_b          \frac1 {            1 + exp{ \frac{\kappa (V_2 - V_1) }{U_T} }          }

A derivation for this and how to turn it into a multiplier are shown in http://zoo.cs.yale.edu/classes/cs490/01-02b/luckenbill.samuel.sbl23/paper_html/node5.html
